Helene Storm Response & Updates:

Monday, Oct. 6th

Church family & community,

Much has happened in the last week since Hurricane Helene has struck our area. We have been grateful to hear reports of safety, and deeply saddened by stories of tragedy and loss. We are with you. God is with us all. You are not alone.

Here are a few brief updates to questions you may have, some of which has been sent out to the congregation via voice message:

Damage Assessment: The church buildings are safe from storm damage, but there are still numerous trees down on our property. The church office has been closed this past week, but we hope to re-open next week since power, water, and internet have been restored at our location. Church staff and leaders will try to reach out to small group members directly about upcoming rehearsal and meeting specifics.

Relief Response: We are immeasurably grateful to have already received numerous shipments of essential supplies from many generous donors, and have had multiple distribution days to neighbors across our community, as we feel Christ has called us to do. The need in nearby areas is great and will have a long-term scope. We will continue to listen to the needs and do our best to respond accordingly, pivoting and providing aid as necessary and as we are able.

Next Distribution(s):
Monday, Oct. 7th 9am-3pm
Thursday, Oct. 10th 9am – 3pm
in the Fellowship Hall (behind the main building)
FREE Food, water, baby supplies, pet food, hygiene items, etc.

Donations: If you have not already made arrangements for donation delivery, at this time we are asking folks to support the needs in our area and the ministry of our church by donating financially to the Western North Carolina Conference’s Hurricane Helene Relief Fund. 100% of donations go to WNC relief efforts. Click here and choose “Disaster Response” to donate.

Pumpkin Patch: It is still to be determined if we will be able to hold our annual fundraiser this year. We will keep you informed as to what we will be able to offer for families in our community this Fall.

Thank you for your patience and support as we navigate this complex season.

Stay Strong and Keep Working Together!

Grace and Peace,

Fletcher UMC Church Staff
