Time: 01:00 PM -
Location: Meet at Fellowship Hall

Our Hiking Ministry       Following the 11:00 am worship service (1:00 p.m.).   Please bring appropriate clothing, shoes, and snacks for the hike.  You may change clothes in the Fellowship Hall if you like. Our first adventure will take us to Bent Creek Trail. Please join us for fun, fitness and fellowship. Our hiking leaders are Lisa Boblett and Brenda Matusik.

On Saturday, April 11th, a group from Fletcher UMC took advantage of the recent improvement in our weather conditions
to enjoy a hike up near Old Fort. Our hiking ministry team has several dates planned for future hikes. If you
enjoy the outdoors and fellowshipping with wonderful people, you should give it a try. No experience necessary!

May 23rd—Craggy Gardens. This hike provides breathtaking views of distant southern Appalachian ridges. We will
either bring a picnic lunch or grill out. Some climbing. 1-3 miles.
June 12th—(Saturday) Mount Mitchell hike. 3-5 miles. Moderate difficulty.
June 27th—Devil’s Courthouse. 1-2 miles. Fairly short, but steep. Panoramic views. 45 minute drive each way.
July 25th—Pearson Falls, Saluda N.C. Forest, streams and waterfalls. 2-3 miles.
August 14th—(Saturday) Laurel River Trail. We travel to Hot Springs where we will hike 7 miles along the river.
Ends at Ghost Town.
August 29th—Fawn Lake, Dupont State Forest. 4-6 miles. Moderate hike.
September 26th—North Carolina Arboretum. A 3-4 mile, easy hike. Parking cost is $8 per car.
October 9th—(Saturday) Buck Spring Trail, then lunch at the Pisgah Inn. This hike is 4—6 miles.
October 31st—Warren Wilson Halloween Hike. Wear your mask or costume (optional) for a spooky daytime hike with
cookies and cocoa following at the church’s Fellowship Hall.
November 28th—Montreat hike of 3–5 miles, with a moderate climb.
December 19th—Historic Montford. We will hike an urban trail, passing local historic sites and stopping for warmth
and hot cocoa as needed in local shops.
Time & Location: Hikes are the last Sunday of the month, unless noted. Sunday hikes leave the church at 1:00 pm
and Saturday hikes leave the church at 9:00 am.
What to Wear/Bring: Layered clothing, rainwear, comfortable boots or shoes, sunscreen, a camera, water, snacks
(fruit, granola, string cheese, trail mix, etc.). If you plan to bring your cell phone, keep it in a waterproof bag or case.
In the event of rain or inclement weather, we will have an alternate plan to go bowling.
